DUCK PENNY: Microbe themed Improv Show

Don’t miss your chance to see Laramie’s long form improv team, Duck Penny, performing on October 25th at 7pm! Watch as the performers take a single suggestion given from the audience and create an entire show right in front of your very eyes, no scripts, no props, no fear!

Duck Penny is partnering with Science Loves Art at 4th Street Studios to bring you a riotous evening of comedy inspired by microbes. The Wyoming EPSCoR Microbial Ecology Collaborative Team has provided suggestions for Duck Penny to act on. Are they artists? YES! Are they scientists? Well at least one of them is...

This event is B.Y.O.B.

Bottoms Up! Paint Pouring

Bottoms Up! Paint Pouring

Next up for acrylic paint pouring is “Bottoms Up!” You will explore the movement of your paint color choices over the base of a plastic pop/water bottle. The ‘flower’ shaped bottle base helps create paintings with very unique, abstract designs.

To help make this pour special you will have the option to design onto an old record album! Yes! Dancing to the oldies never looked so good! Or you might prefer to use a square canvas. Watch the demonstration then you decide. We will also be doing a short exercise in using string to create abstract shapes with paint pour. If this class sounds like one that you would like to attend, don't miss out because space will be limited.

Walk away with two 4X4” canvases, one 8X8” canvas, and one groovy vintage record! (great for gifts or to light up any room in your home.)

Lead by Patty Hansen. (BYOB!)

*Class caps at 12 students. $25 per student. All materials included. Cards and cash accepted. (Cash must be dropped off at least 24 hours in advance of class to reserve your spot.)

Alcohol Ink

Alcohol Ink

Using alcohol inks can be a fun way to use colors and create backgrounds for stamping or cardmaking. You can also use alcohol inks in painting and to add color to different surfaces such as glass and metals. Alcohol inks are an acid-free, highly-pigmented, and fast drying medium to be used on non-porous surfaces. Mixing colors can create a vibrant marbled effect and the possibilities can only be limited by what you are willing to try.

Join us to experiment with this microbe inspired technique and leave class with 3 handmade cards and a piece of decorative glass. All materials included!

*Class caps at 12 students. $25 per student. Cards and cash accepted. (Cash must be dropped off at least 24 hours in advance of class to reserve your spot.)

Paint Pouring

Paint Pouring

Whether you want to call it fluid art, liquid art, or acrylic pouring, there’s nothing more satisfying than creating abstract masterpieces by letting pigment run wild. This form of abstract art uses acrylics with a runny consistency to create psychedelic paintings. There are endless creative possibilities thanks to different ways to combine acrylic paints and there’s something so satisfying about watching it spill across a surface.

In this class, we will explore the movement of acrylic paint mixed with oil and glue- creating our own recipes to assess the difference in movement and density based on our individual combinations. We will learn more controlled techniques of paint pour using string.

You will walk away with 3 abstract cards and (2) 4 X 4” canvas to display as you please.

*Class caps at 12 students. $25 per student. Cards and cash accepted. (Cash must be dropped off at least 24 hours in advance of class to reserve your spot.)
